ONE-ON-ONE FEEDBACK

Your story is important to you, and I will do my best to help you write that story effectively. When you request this kind of feedback, I will read your document twice. On the second read, I will make comments in the margins about your style, craft elements, etc. For the most part, I will do this electronically using Word’s “comment” and “track changes” features, but you can request a paper copy if you’d prefer. Then, I’ll write a one-page critique that will include my thoughts on what’s working in the story, questions I have, and suggestions for revision. If I think it would be helpful, I’ll also offer some reading suggestions, so that you can see how a published writer handled a craft element you’re interested in. Then we’ll have a conference during which we’ll discuss my feedback, and I’ll answer any questions.

Limit: 20 pages of double-spaced prose, 12pt font.

Cost: $100 per story. Due at the beginning of the conference. Cash only. If the client doesn’t bring the payment in full, the conference won’t go forward and I’ll shred or delete the marked-up story and one-page critique.

RESUME/CV AND COVER LETTER ASSISTANCE

You can submit one resume (or CV) and one cover letter. You must also submit a link to the job announcement. I will look over the documents twice. On the second read, I’ll provide comments in the margins about things like document design, specificity, and how well the documents are tailored to the job description to which you’re responding. For the most part, I will do this electronically using Word’s “comment” and “track changes” features, but you can request a paper copy if you’d prefer. Then you and I will have a one-on-one conference during which we’ll go over my feedback, and I’ll answer any questions.

Cost: $50 per resume/CV and cover letter combo.

"Jamie has that amazing ability to explain the technical nitty-gritty in an accessible and creative way. As a teacher she was unique, smart, and encouraging. Her enthusiasm for writing, and for others to keep writing, was a huge personal motivator. I start grad school this week, and I am so thankful for both the writing and the teaching role model!"
